GET STARTED WITH A FIRST DAY OF DAYCARE
For both daycare and boarding, it all starts with a First Assessment Day. This isn't a pass/fail day; we have a program to match every dog.
On the first day, your dog joins us for a full day of daycare.
During this day, we put together their personal play profile so we can make sure when they join us we’re designing their day to meet who they are and their needs.
We do first day assessments Mondays through Fridays. Check-in anywhere from 5:30 am - 8:45 a.m., and checkout any time after 4:00 p.m. until 8:45 pm.
Advance reservations are recommended, but we're always happy to accommodate same-day when needed. Just give us a shout!
All reservations are attached to an account, so this is the first step you'll do.
Need to start with boarding right away? Set up an account and give us a call at 780-980-8639 and we can get you set.
SIGN UP FOR AN ASSESSMENT DAY
All dogs of all ages begin with a first assessment day before enrolling in any specific program.
1. SET UP AN ACCOUNT
Sign up for an account online. You'll fill in some of your information and your dog's information.
Important: Opt in to communications if you want to receive health and other notices pertaining to your dog's reservations.
Make sure your dog's required vaccinations are up to date. Email a copy to us or plan to bring a copy in on your check-in day.
3. REQUEST YOUR DOG'S FIRST-DAY ASSESSMENT
In your online account, go to Request Services. Select Assessment - First Day of Daycare. You do not stay with your dog for their assessment.
Check-in time is between 5:30 - 8:45 am. Check-out time is between 4 - 8:45 pm.
Once you submit your request, we'll send you a confirmation email with check-in details. Please check your spam or junk folders if you don't receive the confirmation within a few hours.

Please arrive with your dog on collar and leash
No greetings between dogs
Please do not let your dog approach anybody
5. CHECK-OUT ON FIRST DAY
When you arrive, please let us know who you are checking out. Please bring and present ID. You will be asked at each check-out for ID.
Our front attendant will review their report card, important check-out details, and will have a package of information for you.
If you have detailed questions about your dog's first day beyond the first-day check-out review, please contact our trainer.
6. BOOK FUTURE RESERVATIONS
With your assessment day complete, you can book any future reservation online, either daycare or boarding.
The assessment isn’t intended to be a training resource and won’t answer training questions you might have related to your dog’s behaviour in your home or outside of our facility. We can certainly arrange for that type of assessment to be done, but this assessment lets us get to know your dog in our facility and how they engage and respond in our environment.
This assessment is for us to set up their play profile so we know how to schedule and structure their time with us.
A WALK THROUGH THE FIRST DAY
You’ll check-in with your dog on leash and collar. Our front attendant will walk you through the day, and we have a sheet of information for you on what you and your dog can expect on the first day. You do not stay with your dog for this day.
YOUR DOG'S DAY
We go at their pace. If they’re too timid or nervous to enter our back area, we won’t force them. We have a training room set up specifically for dogs who need a bit of time to get settled in.
Our trainers spend individual time with your dog getting them settled in and setting up structured experiences for them. We don't throw your dog in with others or flood them with groups of dogs or lots of stimulus.
We first see how your dog does simply being with us and being exposed to the sounds, smells and energy while being in the privacy of their own play area.
Some dogs may never even meet another dog on their first day; it all depends on what they’re communicating to our trainers. We don’t set an expectation for the dog, but respond to what they let us know.
Based on their comfort level, confidence and body language, we might introduce a single dog and then, as appropriate, build a group up from there mixing males and females. At every point we respond to your dog's signals and allow them to set the schedule of what they're comfortable with.
Our trainers put together an assessment report on which we base their play profile and we provide you with a report card and recommendation for whether they're best suited for our ENGAGE program, CLASS program or reACTIVATE program.
We'll get some photos of your pup on their first day and do a welcome post on our Instagram and Facebook!
We'll also send you a report card by email with photo in the afternoon, which you can view by logging into your account
At the end of the first day, our front attendant will review their report card with you and the trainer's suggested program.
If you have more in-depth questions beyond what our attendant reviews with you, contact our trainer directly.
