Health, Vaccination and Other Requirements for Dog Daycare, Boarding, Learning Programs or Self Wash facilities

The safety of your dog is of the highest importance to us. All dogs participating in dog training, boarding, and daycare must meet all vaccination requirements.

  • All dogs checking into Paws Pet Pad must be in good health, not exposed to nor had any contagious diseases for 30 days prior to their visit, and must be up-to-date on all of their required vaccinations or present a current titre test showing immunity.

  • You must provide any other relevant information regarding their health or any changes to their vaccines at each visit.

  • For boarding dogs, any pet exhibiting signs of illness or distress after being checked in will be brought to a vet for assessment and care.

Required Vaccines

  • Records must indicate current rabies vaccination or immunity. Rabies is required once as a puppy at 6 months, then given one year later. Depending on the vaccine, rabies is repeated annually or every three years.

  • Records must indicate current DHLPP/DA2PP/DHPP vaccination or immunity. These vaccinations are required as a puppy series, beginning at 6-8 weeks old, then boosted at 3-week intervals and then with a booster a year later. This combination vaccine can be given every three years.

  • A regular tick and flea prevention of your choice is required.

  • Titer tests showing immunity are accepted.

Recommended Vaccines

  • The Bordatella vaccine is recommended but not required. Bordatella in dogs is akin to a common cold in humans, and much like the flu vaccine for people, the Bordatella vaccine will not protect your dog from all strains of viruses or bacteria that result in canine tracheobronchitis or canine infectious respiratory disease (commonly referred to as kennel cough or canine cough). In the interest of not asking our clients to over-vaccinate your dogs, we suggest but do not require Bordatella.

Exceptions

If, for any reason, your dog is unable to meet these vaccination requirements, please have your vet contact us. Exceptions to the requirements can be made on a case-by-case basis with your vet's support.

Intact male and female dogs

  • Intact puppies under six months old participate in our regular play and social groups.

  • We do accept older unspayed females and unneutered males. Depending on the outcome of their assessment day, they may participate in our private play and enrichment areas based on their group interactions. Intact dogs may require additional rest and may not be placed in group play with other intact males or females depending on their play behaviour.

  • Females in heat may not attend daycare, be boarded, or attend learning programs.

  • Unneutered males or unspayed females that display humping, aggressive or other dominant behaviours, or which  become a target for unaltered dogs, will be placed in private play and enrichment and will be welcomed back into group play after an assessment after being spayed or neutered.
