Local Leduc Trainer Raising the Bar!

WE ARE SO PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE our director and trainer Carrie has been accepted into the prestigious Karen Pryor Dog Training Academy!!!

Carrie has been with us since 2017 and has contributed to the local dog care community immensely, helping transform Paws Pet Pad from the traditional-style daycare to one focused on wellness, wellbeing and personalized care.

Upon graduation, Carrie will receive the internationally-recognized KPA Certified Training Partner professional designation, joining only 60 fellow Albertans in this honour.

“Dog training is a completely unregulated industry. It’s the wild west and pursuing third-party accreditation and professional certification from recognized and acclaimed programs is so very important to building the integrity of this industry and demonstrating accountability for our practice. Karen Pryor’s program is regarded internationally as one of the best.” - Carrie Doiron
"Acceptance into this academy is an important third-party endorsement of not only Carrie’s current skills but also her potential and dedication to excellence in her field. We are exceptionally proud of her acceptance. Carrie exemplifies Paws Pet Pad’s commitment to transforming the dog care industry and developing wellbeing-based programs." - Jennifer Giesbrecht, Owner, Paws Pet Pad

The Academy runs two Canadian programs per year and accepts only ten people per class for its six-month program. Applicants to the program must demonstrate understanding of positive-reinforcement training and animal learning theory and have proven hands-on experience training.

Carrie completed the Humane Society’s Dog Behaviour and Training Methodology Certification and has studied under and learned from internationally-renowned trainers Michael Shikashio, Turid Rugaas, Ian Dunbar and Susan Friedman. She specializes in behavioural modification, aggression and reactivity.
